Introducing our new Website Hosting Mascot...

First off I want to thank all the people that participated in the Goldbar Name the Mascot contest that we ran last week.
I wasn't prepared for all the entries.
Our email, Twitter and Blog was really hopping all week long up until the end of the contest.
We had so many great ideas and suggestions and many of them came with interesting killer copy, backstories, etc. (I really think some of you missed your calling as a screenwriter :D ).
But, all week long, one thing was clear - there was an OVERWHELMING frontrunner.
And his name...(Drumroll Please) is: DIGGER!
That's right - our brand new Goldbar Mascot is named Digger.
Now - to be quite honest - we had thought of this name already in house but we wanted to run this contest to see what other names could come up but the fact is when we saw it picked again it just seemed like serendipity.
However, when we saw it picked over 20 times we knew we had a winner.
Of course we didn't know how to divvy up the 1 oz Gold bar so that brings up a minor issue.
But, fear not - we will deliver Gold as promised to each and every person that chose the name Digger (it will not be a 1 oz increment but I will work out a way that every one of you will be happy).
We will be in touch with the winners in a private email and I will also name some of the runners up
on our blog in the next day or so.
This has been an amazing display from our list members (that's you) and we appreciate it.
This got buzz on Twitter, on other peoples sites even world famous branding guru - Dr. Ben Mack picked it up and ran on his blog with it and told me he would be discussing it during his seminar this past weekend (thanks again Ben!)
This is a great example of how to leverage a relationship with your list.
If you aren't building a list - do so NOW!
And take this as an example of what can happen when you really work hard to do something new and innovative and ask for help from the nice people with whom you have built a relationship.
